Man Utd Ready to Meet Release Clause of Atletico Madrid Star, Players Father Speaks Out

Man Utd have been dealt a huge setback in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez. Recent reports claimed that the Red Devils have made a £15 million bid for the Spaniard.

The Sun then ran another story claiming the United’s bid has been rejected by the La Liga club. And now quotes from the player’s father has emerged stating that the player is happy at the La Liga club for the moment. He also mentioned that his 21-year-old son has a €45million release clause.

Now that’s a dampener! “Saúl has a [release] clause of €45million,” the midfielder’s father told Radio COPE. “At the moment, the boy is happy at the club and doesn’t want to leave. He has the confidence of the club.”

Back in December, reports claimed that Atletico Madrid had a deal in place to sell Niguez to Arsenal, but they changed their minds at the last moment because of Tiago’s leg-break.

The 21-year-old is a Spain U-21 international and has scored five goals in 19 appearances in all competitions for Atletico this season.
