Memphis Depay

Man Utd ready to swap Depay to sign deadly striker in a surprise deal

Recent Manchester United acquisition, Memphis Depay, hasn’t had the best of times at Old Trafford of late and many think it would be best for both parties if the exciting midfielder moves on.

Most were expecting the star to sign for another European club; possibly in Italy, Spain or back home in Holland but could a swap deal for a Southampton player be on the cards?

United have long been admirers Southampton’s Sadio Mane and Ronald Koeman has been a fan of Memphis Depay since he first caught the eye of most of Europe’s top clubs just a few seasons ago. Could a swap deal tempt both parties?

United are understood to have attempted signing Sadio Mane last season but the deal never materialized and the Senegalese international stayed with Southampton.

A swap deal would certainly tempt both parties and both players, with Depay looking to resurrect his career and Mane looking to push onto the higher echelons of the game. Depay arrived at United after a terrific World Cup and was highly rated as one of Europe’s top prospects although he hasn’t really adapted to life at Manchester and soon lost his starting place.
Sadio Mane would probably be open to a swap deal and would look to continue his impressive goal scoring record at United. Who would get the better deal here? Should United cut their losses with Depay or give him another season?
