Man Utd should hire Jose Mourinho and sack Van Gaal, urges former star striker

Louis Van Gaal may have bought himself some time with a victory over West Ham in the FA Cup last night but if they don’t win the trophy and finish 5th in the Premier League as expected, the axe will surely fall on an inconsistent and underperforming 2 seasons.

So who next to lead the biggest club in the world? Most fans have their opinions and minds already set but it looks to be a battle between current No.2 Ryan Giggs and serial trophy winner Jose Mourinho.

Former United striker Diego Forlan has revealed that he is rooting for Mourinho to bring the glory days back to United. The former Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid manager has not been working since leaving Chelsea midway through their troubled campaign this year and has been touted by many as Van Gaal’s replacement.

Diego Forlan spent a few seasons at United in the early 2000’s and although he was not a prolific scorer, he did become a fan favorite. Forlan believes that Mourinho is the man to turn things around at United.

Speaking to 888Sport he said: ‘I think with what they have gone through in the past two years United would be better to have a coach with Mourinho’s experience.’

With the managerial situation becoming a crisis, many of the former players are supporting Ryan Giggs’ chances of taking over but many of the fans are looking to ‘The Special One’ to come in and start winning trophies again.
