Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie is set to depart the Old Trafford, after reaching an agreement with a Turkish league side. United coach Louis van Gaal has identified PSG forward, Edinson Cavani as a potential replacement, and has since swung into action, in order to secure the player’s services.
Cavani, who joined PSG few years ago as a back-up striker for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has not made as much impact as would have been expected of him: and, with United reportedly keen to bring in a world class goalscorer to partner Wayne Rooney in attack, a deal may well be on the cards.
Initial reports stated that PSG were unwilling to part with Cavani: however, after recently expressing their desire to sign United winger, Angel di Maria, a deal may not be far-fetched. United, who are keen on Cavani, are believed to be ready to part with Di Maria, and would use him as part of a swap-deal with PSG.
The exact details of the proposed deal are not yet fully known; though reports state that it would most likely involve Cavani coming to the Old Trafford, and Di Maria moving the other way. This wil make a lot of sense. United will be freeing up more space in their wage bill considering Cavani is reportedly on £165,000 a week deal while Di Maria makes £280,000 per week.
