Manchester United Agree Transfer Of ICONIC UCL Winner, Medical Imminent

One of the Spanish goaltenders on the wage bills of the Red Devils ‘is on the verge of finally ending his relationship with the club.

Manchester United have sealed an agreement with Besiktas over the transfer of Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to reports, and the 33-year old is now set to end his brief spell at Old Trafford. Football Arena journalist Ertan Suzgun revealed the Super Lig 1 outfit have agreed to sign the Spaniard on a two-year deal with an option for a third, during which Valdes will earn €2m per season.

United boss Louis van Gaal stated before during pre-season that Valdes the leave the club this summer as the goalkeeper does not follow the club’s philosophy, while the Spanish shot-stopper also replied that he was disrespect – he found his jersey transferred to the club’s Under-21 team without notice.

Althought United and the Turkish club have settled on a transfer for Valdes, manager of Besiktas Senol Gunes still has to make his own decision, as per reports. A former goalkeeeper himself, Senol will have to decide on whether he wants the Spaniard and negotiations over personal terms will take place if the manager does.

Besiktas have sold their reserve goalie to bitter rivals Galatasaray on Tuesday and that has freed up a space in their squad for a player in that position – a void Valdes is expected to fill. It is believed a move looks very likely to happen and Valdes will end his miserable spell at Old Trafford.

The former Barcelona icon was offered the chance to train at Man United last October by van Gaal as he recovered from a knee injury. Thereafter, he signed an 18-month deal with the Red Devils and he would go on to make only two appearances for the team.

The arrival of Sergio Romero in the United goal finally signified that Valdes is out of favour and he is now expected to dislodge Zolga Tengin to become the first-choice at Besiktas, if the move is completed.

The future of Valdes’ compatriot David De Gea at Old Trafford is yet to be resolved, following an interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Although van Gaal has stated United would not sell the goalkeeper, it is still likely De Gea – who has been replaced by Romero this season – will join Los Blancos before September 2. The former Atletico Madrid glovesman has reportedly enlisted the help of super agent Jorge Mendes and the Portuguese has assured his client that the move will be sorted this week.
