Manchester United Could Fix Defensive Woes With Serie A Defender

On the back of his first goal in the Serie A this season, Juan Cuadrado is very excited and has dedicated Fioretina’s win over Inter to the fans, but when the Colombian was quizzed about how he was copping with his on-going contract negotiations amidst interest from Manchester United, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern Munich, Juan insisted that it was his agent’s duty to oversee that and not him. However it has been widely reported that the versatile player who can play anywhere on the right flank and even as a centre back is presently annoyed with the contract that the Italian club are offering him.

Juan Cuadrado was widely reported as a summer transfer target for Manchester United and most papers claimed that Manchester United were all set to pay forty million pounds for the winger who impressed so well for Colombia at this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

This news will be refreshing to all the clubs that have been courting him especially Manchester United. The Old Trafford outfit are currently battling with an injury ravaged backline and could use some quality in their ranks. Juan Cuadrado is a player who can be deployed in many positions and he will hand Louis Van Gaal a boost that the Dutchman will relish. Although, all through the summer, the United boss strived hard to convince the highly talented winger to come to Manchester as part of his plan to acquire players with prior 3 man defence experience to foster his 3-5-2 formation that has failed so far at United.

If United gets Juan, he will bring to Rafael a stiff competition on the right and also an option to deploy in the centre-back in the event of other injury scare. With the current rejuvenation going on at Old Trafford, Juan could bring with him a more electrifying presence when he tees up with either Angel Di Maria or any of the other attackers up front.

Manchester United will face a hard rival for the mid-fielder’s signature in Barcelona whose right full-back Dani Alves  is already seeing out the last year of his contact and is also eyeing a move out of the club. Having missed out on Juan this summer, Louis Van Gaal was said to be considering a move for Alves come January and this might probably rule United out of the race but as long as the Colombian remains available United’s boss will never settle for less. This summer, Manchester United were head bent on the resourceful winger and were ready to go all the way for him, but the winger refused to entertain any offers however tempting it may be.  So it is understandable that the player felt ridiculed that having shown great loyalty to ignore several mega deals and stick to the Florence based club, they could still offer him so little. If the stalemate continues till January then Caudrado will most likely weigh his options and call it quits at Fiorentina.
