Manchester United HOPE To HIJACK Liverpool Bid For Benteke

Ever since the departure of their talismanic Dutch striker Robin Van Persie, Manchester United were bound to be linked with Europe’s top strikers. Karim Bezema, Edison Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Gonzalo Higuain are to name just some – but reports are emerging that United have agreed a deal to sign a striker that is a little closer to home.

I am of course referring to Christian Benteke. Benteke who cost Aston Villa £7 million, has been linked with United’s rivals Liverpool  all summer – but if reports are to be believed, United have stolen a march and got their man.

Aston Villa who have said they will reluctantly sell if the price is right, have put a release clause of £32.5 million. Such a huge price tag had put Liverpool off making a deal – but with the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for £50 million, funds have now been made available for Liverpool to make an attempt to do a  transfer.

With the Anfield side waiting for Sterling’s impending departure, that has potentially given United the edge in the quest for this signing. Having said that this story I feel is far from over as it has been rumbling all summer.

After selling Robin Van Persie, United will be hoping Benteke hits the ground running.
