Manchester United Injury Update – Phil Jones Reveals Latest Injury Blow

Manchester United defender Phil Jones is back in action after recovering from a blood clot in his leg; something he discovered during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

The England international defender has been unlucky with injuries and the blood clot problem is just one of those to have hit Jones since he joined United in 2001.

After completing his recuperation from injury Jones is determined to continue to help United to stay top of the log after taking over as leaders for the first time in two years.

“It wasn’t a tackle or something stupid, it was just one of those things. I came off the tour and felt a tightness in my calves and had a scan on it and found a clot in my leg,” Jones said [via Daily Star].

“There is not much you can do. I was still fit and still mobile about the house and that was the frustrating thing, still walking around and trying to train and be fit but I couldn’t join in with the lads.

“There is always a chance in the game that I could get a kick on my calf or something. If you get contact it can travel up your leg. That could disperse it and then you are in trouble.

“I saw the specialist and his advice was not to do it, so when things like that happen you can really ignore it.

“Now I am fit and fine. Touch wood I can stay fit and integrate my way back into the side.

“I am just buzzing to be back now and happy to be back in the fold.”

Jones also believes there is nothing daft about his Man United team-mates who are gunning to bring the league title to Old Trafford this season.

“We have a great squad with loads of talented players. There is no reason why we can’t win the league,” he added.

Louis van Gaal’s men cashed in on Manchester City’s crash Tottenham by securing a 3-0 victory over Sunderland, knocking the Citizens off the top of the log.
