Manchester United Need “20 Goals A Season” Striker Claims Van Persie

As the future of Netherlands international and former Arsenal forward, Robin Van Persie at the Old Trafford continues to come under more uncertainty, the striker himself has come forward to admit the club could do with a striker who is able to score 20+ goals per season. He has been constantly linked with a move away from United following his exclusion from the starting lineup since the arrival of LVG.

His falling down the pecking order has been largely due to his series of injuries and lack of fitness. All these, coupled with a new style and formation that makes him play out of position, Van Persie’s future has always been in doubt, and it has been said that United are looking for replacements for the Dutch player and Radamel Falcao, who has failed to impress since his arrival from loan at Monaco in January.

With United finishing 4th on the log at the end of the season, and still having to play a 2-leg qualifiers if they are to make a return to the Champions League, Louis van Gaal will need to get new strikers, as RVP cant deliver again. And the players himself admits,

β€œIt’s not good that a top club like Manchester United does not have a scorer with 20 or more goals behind his name each season and that is why we only finished fourth.”

Van Persie’s arrival from the Emirates while Sir Ferguson was still in charge saw United win the League. But at 32 years of age, and with constant troubles with injuries, there is not much he can offer, and in the eventuality that he chooses to stay, he will surely play 2nd fiddle to any striker the club decides to bring in before the Summer transfer window shuts.
