How has the mighty fallen as reports from various sources have all-but confirmed that Manchester United Dutch striker, Robin Van Persie has passed a medical ahead of an imminent move t Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The 3-old former Arsenal striker and skipper, who is seeking for regular playing time, is set to put pen to paper on a deal that will see him finally leave England after about a decade of top-flight football. He is now set to sign a four-year deal ahead of a formal unveiling scheduled to take place this weekend in Turkey.
The Dutchman will remain on the minds of several football fans for a long time to come for his goal-scoring ability while playing for both Arsenal and Manchester United. Perhaps, he would be more remembered by all Gunners as a man that betrayed one of England’s most decorated clubs, than for his goal-scoring prowess.
Signed by Sir Alex Ferguson three seasons ago, the Flying Dutchman almost single-handedly helped his team to the EPL title in his first season with the Red Devils. However, things took a different turn two seasons ago when he started experiencing a dip in form as a result of consistent injuries. Things got worse when Louis van Gaal took charge of the club, as Van Persie struggled to tie down a regular shirt, despite Falcao’s loss of form.
Despite having a history in terms of injuries, the 31-year old is set to light the Turkish League with his goal-scoring ability. He probably still has a lot to offer despite his age and injury records.
