Manchester United News Round Up – Mane, Griezmann & Muller

What has been a perfect transfer window for Manchester United is turning into a shambolic disaster. The Red Devils were favourites to land both Nicolas Otamendi and Pedro Rodriguez as they hope to boost their attack and defensive options. However the Red Devils made a big mess of both transfers and allowed both deals for Pedro and Otamendi to be hijacked by both Chelsea and Manchester City respectively. Asides from that, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea is still favoured to leave Manchester United before the transfer window closes. Ed Woodard and Louis Van Gaal have just 12 days save their faces and can salvage the situation with this linked players.

After losing out on Pedro Rodriguez, United are reported to have turned their attention towards another pacey and creative winger in form of Antoine Griezmann. The 24 year old had a terrific debut season at Atletico Madrid scoring a total of 24 goals in all competitions. The French winger was linked to Chelsea at some point but with the addition of Pedro, Chelsea are unlikely to step up their interests. United’s desperation for a marquee signing could see them meet Griezmann’s staggering release clause of £57 million. The Red Devils financial power should be enough to cough out £57 million.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are understood to be planning a £78 million swoop for Southampton’s Sadio Mane and Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller in retaliation for losing out on Pedro. The Senegalese has emerged as a shock target for the Red Devils but Louis Van Gaal is said to be a keen admirer of Mane’s pace and versatility. The Southampton forward is expected to cost Manchester United a fee of £15 million. While Manchester United are believed to be willing to break their own British transfer record by launching a £60 million bid for German forward, Thomas Muller. The Bayern Munich is said to be keen on a move in a bid to be reunited with his former manager Louis Van Gaal.

In a bid to lure Thomas Muller to Old Trafford, United will be offering the 25 year old a whooping £250,000 per week deal to become a Manchester United player. Having freed up £800,000 in their weekly wages budget, the Red Devils have the financial capability to offer Thomas Muller such a ridiculous pay every week. If he eventually joins United, the 25 year old will be the second highest paid player at United just behind Wayne Rooney.
