Manchester United On The VERGE OF Signing WORLD Cup Star

Reports emanating from various sources have confirmed that Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Argentina goalkeeper, Sergio Romero.

The 28-year old shot stopper became a free agent after leaving Sampdoria last month, and boss Louis Van Gaal wants him between the sticks for United next term.

With David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid only a matter of days away plus the imminent departure of Victor Valdes after a fall-out with Van Gaal, United swiftly make the move to bring in a replacement.

The Red Devils are playing hard ball with Real Madrid, as a result of the Spanish club’s decision to not sell them Sergio Ramos.

Valdes on the other hand was dropped off United’s squad on their for pre-season tour. Van Gaal revealed in an explosive rant yesterday, the reason for the snub. The Dutchman claimed Valdes refused to follow the club’s philosophy and that he lacks respect. This is as a result of the ex-Barcelona’s goalkeeper’s decision to not play with the Red Devils’ second team.

Hence, Valdes should be on his way out of the club this summer too, with Turkish clubs looking to sign him.

Meanwhile, Man United will not have it easy signing Sergio Romero though, with Roma and Real Madrid also vying for the experienced goalie’s signature.

The Premier League club held initial talks with the former Monaco goalkeeper, and offered £1.3 million a year after tax, plus other bonuses. This, according to transfer insider, Gianluca Di Marzio, has made United blow the competition out of the water, according to Metro.

TalkSPORT also reveals that Roma are interested in Romero, with the Italian club offering him a two-year deal which he could sign this week.

According to the report, the Rome-based club want to move ahead of United to clinch the deal, with speculation and uncertainty surrounding the future of the English club’s first-choice goalie, David De Gea.

Romero has 62 caps for Argentina and was signed by van Gaal during his managerial spell with Dutch outfit, AZ Alkmaar. The goalie also won the Eredivise title in his second and Van Gaal’s final season at the AFAS stadion.
