Manchester United Plan January Move Attacker With 4 Goals 4 Assists In 8 Games

Manchester United are still interested in signing Sadio Mane, and will reignite their interest in the Southampton attacker after his brilliant display against Chelsea last weekend, report the Daily Star.

Mane, 23, has continued with the brilliant form he showed last term and has two goals and four assists in eight Premier League outings this season.

As per the Manchester Evening News, United boss Louis van Gaal believes Mane can add real brilliance to his side and could make a move for the Senegalese star when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year.

The Red Devils also tried to sign the former Red Bull Salzburg forward in the summer after missing out on Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez but the move did not materialise.

After the Saints’ 3-1 defeat of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend, Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has admitted it would be difficult to keep hold of Mane.

“Maybe one day we lose Mane but then we have to be prepared,” the Dutch tactician said.

“You know in our situation that kind of player, if they play like today, there will come a lot of interest in the end of the season, but now we enjoy watching Mane in our team.”

When rumours of United’s interest in Mane surfaced in the summer, most of their supporters were not impressed with van Gaal targeting the Senegal international.

Now with his outstanding display against the reigning Premier League champions last Saturday, signing Mane in the winter transfer could be a masterstroke from van Gaal.

United will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways after losing their last league game 3-0 to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.
