Manchester United Plan January Move For 16 Goals 9 Assists Chelsea Target
The Red Devils are paying court to Olympique Lyonnais attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir, and the Mancunian Reds could make a swoop for the French footballer at the end of the season.
This is as per the Metro who cite Spanish media outlet Fichajes who postulate that United are keen on landing the pacey attacker, despite already blessed with enough players in the attacking midfield area in the team.
Fekir enjoyed a breakthrough season at Lyon last season, scoring 13 league goals and creating nine assists to help Les Gones finish behind eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain and subsequently, a Champions League qualification.
The France international had also started the season in blistering fashion, hitting four games in his opening four games, but his spectacular progress has been cut short due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered while on international duty with his country. He has since been ruled out of action for up to six months.
Fekir had also hinted that a move to Old Trafford would be a dream, after his fellow countryman Anthony Martial also joined Manchester United on the transfer deadline day of last season.
He said: “Why not one day play in Manchester. This is a club of dreams.”
United’s Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool made approaches for the Frenchman in the summer but their efforts were rebuffed by Lyon when Fekir penned a fresh deal at the Stade de Gerland back in July. The pacey attacker committed his future to Les Gones and called the French outfit “the club of his heart”.
“This was an easy decision for me to make, this is the club of my heart and I want to take it as high as possible,” Fekir had said after signing the new contract.
Fekir would definitely fit into Louis van Gaal plans of leaving a legacy of young players for the man who would succeed him when the Dutchman leaves Old Trafford.
