Manchester United Plan MEGA Bids For Cavani And Muller

After landing a genuine superstar of the game in Bastian Schweinsteiger , along with the vital signings of Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian, the Old Trafford faithful are in high spirits and dreaming of a potential title challenge next season from Louis van Gaal’s men. However, if recent reports emerging in the Metro and Daily Mail are accurate, then the Old Trafford faithful are most likely in for a treat in the coming days, with the outlets linking Van Gaal with a swoop for the deadly duo of Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller and Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

The Dutchman’s pursuit of a world class striker has been well documented throughout the summer, with Wayne Rooney the only experienced senior striker in the United ranks, following the departure of Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce and Radamel Falcao’s exit after the club chose not to make his loan deal permanent. With Javier Hernandez also likely to leave, vacancies have opened up in the striking department and Van Gaal wishes to fill them with the best available talents.

The Daily Mail has reported that United have opened negotiations with the Bavarians over a £57 million move for German International Thomas Müller, who has been a long term target for the Red Devils, with United’s initial interest in the 25-year-old dating back to the days of Sir Alex Ferguson. The World cup winner has spent his entire career with the German Champions after rising through the youth ranks, and made the step up to the first team under the stewardship of current United manager Louis Van Gaal, during the Dutchman’s stint with the Bavarians.

He has since gone on to establish himself as one of the best players in the world, and one of the most important at his boyhood club. With 71 goals in 197 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern, coupled with 27 in 63 for Germany , Muller has cemented his legacy at some of the biggest stages in the game and has the pedigree to take the Premier League by storm.

Meanwhile, according to several reports, Van Gaal has identified PSG striker Edinson Cavani as his primary target to replace the departing Van Persie. The 28-year-old Uruguayan International, who is widely regarded as one of the top strikers in the game , has been the subject of a £45 million bid from the Red Devils. However, PSG are adamant that any deal for the forward will have to involve Argentine winger Angel Di Maria moving from Old Trafford to the Parc De Princes. A decision now rests with the United Manager, who is seemingly willing to part with the winger having already signed Memphis Depay for a wide forward role , and with the reemergence of Ashley Young as a United first choice.

If the Red Devils succeed in landing both their targets, Van Gaal can rightfully boast of having the most prolific attacking combination in the Premier League at his disposal. It is still early days to predict anything, but that will not stop the Old Trafford faithful from dreaming of a gargantuan forward line featuring Cavani, Müller and Depay, with Rooney in behind and Schweinsteiger spraying passes all over the field.

Any remote possibility of such a deal materializing will send shivers down the spine of United’s rivals, and will most likely give the Old Trafford outfit an edge over their rivals in the hunt for Premier League glory.
