Manchester United Plan Signing Of World Cup Winner In £22m Deal

Louis van Gaal is said to have plans to strengthen his defence the more as their current campaign continues, and it is believed that the Dutch has his eyes on Valencia central defender, Shkodran Mustafi. With Daley Blind, whose primary position is the defensive midfield currently playing as a makeshift at the centre of the defence, a move for Mustafi will see the Netherlands international return to the midfield.

The injury woes to the Red Devils’ backline have seen the likes of Young, Valencia and Blind recently playing out of position to fill in the void at the back, a decision not going too well, as evident with the 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal. LVG will be looking at rectifying the problem as soon as possible, come in the 23 year-old Mustafi.

The Bayern Munich-target was once an EPL prospect during his time with Everton as a younger player, but his failure to break into the first team saw him move to Serie A side, Sampdoria in 2012. Afterwards, he left for the La Liga in 2014, and has since seen his profile rise after putting up strings of consistent impressive displays both at club and international level. His latest accolades being a World Cup trophy with the German team at last year’s world cup, where he was an integral part of the winning team in Brazil.

Mustafi was also a subject of transfer speculations during the Summer transfer window from the duo of Liga giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, both couldn’t force a move as Valencia insisted on keeping hold of one of their most-valuable players. He was solid in defence last season for the Spanish side, appearing 36 times across all competitions, scoring 4 goals in the process and making 1 assist. Provided Manchester United will be bidding for him, he is said to be worth around 22 million Pounds in transfer fees.
