Manchester United Readying Bid For £182,000-A-Week Arsenal Target

High rated Uruguayan Edinson Cavani has become unhappy at PSG and is demanding an exit from the club. According to reports, Arsenal and Manchester United are part of many teams interested in Cavani and will be keeping a close eye on the Cavani situation. The 27 year old is reportedly unhappy at PSG, disappointed by the fact that he is being over-shadowed at PSG by Ibrahimovic and is always constantly being played on the flanks just to accommodate them both. Cavani will be looking to move to a club where he can tie down a regular shirt and also be played regularly in his favourite number 9 spot.

Scoring a total of 7 goals in 18 appearances this season, many would agree that the Cavani we grew accustomed to in Napoli has not fully reached his peak at PSG because PSG’s pattern of play revolves around Ibrahimovic. It seems PSG Coach Laurent Blanc always opts to play Cavani on the flanks rather than play him in a two-man striker partnership with Ibrahimovic. It remains in doubt whether PSG would be willing to sell the Uruguayan striker this transfer window but the next summer window might see the club letting the striker go for the right price. The financial fair play laws may also force the Parisiens in selling the Uruguayan striker.

For Arsenal it could be just one of those normal transfer window rumours and purely no basis to it. However with their goal scoring problems at the moment the addition of Edinson Cavani would not be a bad option. A lot of Arsenal fans are quiet fed up with lazy attitude of Giroud, poor finishing of Welbeck and others believe Sanogo is not good enough for the team. Landing a gifted player like Cavani with a hunger for goals, great player in the air and equally great on foot would be massive boost for the team starting from the players to the fan base. The only problem in signing Cavani will be Arsene Wenger who might feel the €60 million price tag on Cavani’s head is more than he can afford being the economist that he is and also Arsene Wenger might consider his list of striking options good and basically rule out the idea of adding another striker to the list.

For Manchester United however, this is the second Uruguayan being linked to the team after fellow Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has also been linked to the club in what many will consider a very shock transfer. Frankly there is a better chance of landing Cavani than it is to land Suarez mainly because of price and also the player’s openness to the move. As Coach Louis Van Gaal is still yet to decide whether he wants to make Falcao deal permanent or not it is reported that he is keeping an eye on Cavani as a potential replacement for Falcao if the Colombian international does not deliver at the end of the season.

A fit Falcao for me would make a better striker than Cavani, Cavani has many good qualities but in terms of finishing he does not quite convince me that he is a better striker than Falcao. It’s only a matter of time before Falcao hits 100 % fitness and starts banging his goals as his normal routine. If United end up not signing Falcao a much younger striker should be purchased not Cavani who might be at the end of his peak.
