Following the arrivals of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin to the Old Trafford this window, Louis van Gaal is reportedly planning to offload Ander Herrera, perhaps, to decongest the midfield, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
Van Gaal’s decision to sell the player is quite shocking in my opinion, considering Herrera’s creative ability, as well as his ability to score vital goals from outside the box. As a matter of fact, Herrera is one of the most popular players among the Old Trafford faithful, and selling him this summer may not go down well with some of the fans.
The Italian site claims that Louis van Gaal plans to sell the player this window, since he doesn’t rate him higher than his newly signed midfield duo of Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin. What that means is that he sees the newly signed duo being ahead of the Spaniard, which will be regarded as a huge blow for a lot of Man United fans.
However, the player won’t be short of suitors as TMW also claims that two clubs from Spain are already waiting in the wings to jostle for his signature should he be eventually placed on the transfer market. The clubs being linked with a move for Herrera are Valencia and Atletico Madrid, according to TMW.
The player was a regular feature in Louis van Gaal’s plans last season, featuring in as many matches, with only David De Gea and Wayne Rooney appearing in more matches than the Spaniard.
Though, the midfield is a bit more congested than it was last season, Herrera strikes me like a player who has the ability to hold down a regular shirt next season due to his creative and goal scoring abilities.
