Manchester United player Jesse Lingard who is believed to be Bristol City bound is reportedly being targeted by Newcastle United. After a disappointing last year for the Magpies which almost saw them drop to relegation, Newcastle are reinforcing their squad ahead of the new campaign in order to perform much better than they did last year.
Newcastle boss Steve Mcclaren has wasted no time in bringing in new players like Aleksander Mitrovic and Georginio Wiljnaldum with 22 year old Jesse Lingard said to be on the radar of the Magpies as they strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
Newcastle boss Steve Mcclaren is a big admirer of the 22 year old who he managed when Lingard was loan to Derby County last season. The 22 year old is expected to move out of Manchester United due to the likes of Ashley Young, Adnan Januzaj , Juan Mata , Memphis Depay being ahead of him in pecking order. The English player will be looking to move to a club where he can be handed first team opportunities.
It was reported that the 22 year old was on the verge of joining Bristol City for a tune of 2.5 million pounds but with Newcastle in the race to sign Lingard, things could take an awkward turn. Jesse Lingard however has expressed his desire to fight for his place in United saying “The manager has not said anything to me at the moment regarding my future.”This is my club. This is where I want to stay.”
