It has been revealed that Manchester United are now in pursuit of Everton John Stones. According to the Daily Mirror, the Red Devils are showing significant interest in the 21-year-old defender who is already a strong target for Chelsea. The Blues have already had two bids turned down for the Everton defender with the Toffees insisting he is going nowhere.
The young defender has also this week been linked with Manchester City and now it is believed that United have joined the chase. It is understood that United are ready to offer out of favor Jonny Evans as well as cash to land the highly rated Stones. It was believed that that United were set to drop their interest in a new central defender after missing out on Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, but recent reports are indicating that perhaps, they are still on the hunt for a quality Centre-back.
According to the Mirror, United have yet to make a formal approach but have made discreet inquires about Stones, as bidding war hots up. However, Everton have made it vehemently clear that they have no intension of losing John Stones as evidenced by their rejection of two different bids from Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
Mourinho, long said that he sees the young England defender as a potential long term successor to John Terry at the heart of Chelsea’s defense. Stones has been regarded as the best young English defensive prospect in the top flight.
