Manchester United striker on being a ballboy for Liverpool vs Chelsea

In Chelsea’s game against Liverpool at Anfield towards the end of last season, a familiar face was spotted on the touchline as Juan Mata went to take a corner early in to the second half. Was that… could it be… Danny Welbeck?

Jonny Evans has interviewed Welbeck, with footage available of Manchester United’s official website, to ask him about his apparent appearance as a ball boy.

“I couldn’t help it,” Welbeck replied with a grin. “I needed to spy on the opponents. Spot their weaknesses first hand. I just had to be there and see it. Next time we play them you’ll see my strengths against their weaknesses.”
