Manchester United To Sanction £25m Bid For Arsenal And Tottenham Target

After a dominant display in the middle of the park against Manchester United, Southampton midfield linchpin, Morgan Schneiderlin has reportedly been penciled down as a potential transfer target for Manchester United this January. According to Daily Express, Louis Van Gaal is set to sanction a £25m bid for the Saints star.

If the speculation turns out to be true then such a move comes across as being more of a vanity signing than a necessity as this current United is bulging at the seams with Midfielders, both creative and grafting. A team boasting the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick, Phil Jones, Daley Blind and Darren Fletcher, the posse being grafting midfield anchormen, has no business signing another midfield anchorman.

Instead, such transfer funds should be invested in the purchase of playing personnel who would be immediately deployed at the back, most importantly a Centre-Back because all through this season, Manchester United’s defence has looked at sea, conceding silly goals and generally delivering error-strewn displays that have cost team vital points.

It is obvious that the team needs a vocal leader at the back in the mould of departed former captains, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand both who forged a strong defensive partnership few seasons previously.
