Manchester Utd & Arsenal Given Golden Opportunity To Sign EPL CB

West Ham United look set to lose out on one of their best players after failing to make him commit pen to paper. The Hammers’ breakthrough of the past 12 months, Winston Reid, has been told by the club that they will no further improve their current offer for the extension of his contract so as to remain at the club.

Reid, 26, may leave the Hammers to join either Arsenal or Liverpool as both clubs have been linked with signing him on a free transfer after being impressed by his improvement and progress in the past 12 months of the calendar year.

The central defender has cast doubts over his current contract with West Ham United for staying quiet on whether to extend his contract or seek to ply his trade elsewhere. West Ham’s new deal to Reid would see him as one of the highest paid players at the club but he is undecided on what to do with several links to bigger clubs.

Suggested to want-away from West Ham, Reid looks perfect for the likes of clubs such as Arsenal, particularly Manchester United who has been suffering at the heart of defence.

Manchester United manager, Van Gaal failed to channel resources to his team’s defence during the last transfer window, and with the injury woes rocking the camp of Manchester United, a centre back and a free transfer player of Reid’s calibre, who would cost the club less would be a good idea to begin with.

While Arsenal also face stern defensive challenges as their Premier League counterpart, Manchester United, they must also look to bolster their weakened wall at defence.

Reid who seems set to leave West Ham United at the end of the season is great news to Arsene Wenger and Arsenal as both club and manager seek to suggest a near lasting solution to their defence crisis and with Reid who is seeking to move to a bigger club, a perfect opportunity seems to be served to the French manager on a platter of gold.

Liverpool who also suffers injury despairs at the moment has been reported to be in pole position to sign the central defender New Zealander who has shone over the past year, with reports suggesting Liverpool could land the defender for a whooping sum of €30 million. The presence and addition of Reid at Anfield could help reduce the pressure on the two central backs (Martin Skrtel and KoloToure) currently available.

West Ham United has allegedly told Reid that the present un-attended offer is their last as they thrive to make him remain at the club; a consideration does not seem possible as Reid is alleged to have set sights on bigger clubs.

With the way things are, the central defender will not be signing another deal with the east London club, and will make a move to one of the clubs reportedly linked with wanting his signature; a perfect opportunity for Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

As Reid looks set to further his career by deciding which club to choose, so should the present three crisis-rocked clubs show more interest in landing the 26-year-old defender; after all, opportunities do not come often.
