Manchester Utd’s €43m Target Reveals Agreement With His Agent

All through this summer, Manchester United have been heavily linked to Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal. The Chilean having impressed at the World Cup in Brazil caught the fancy of top echelons of the Old Trafford based club. As strong as the rumours were few months back, the deal failed to materialise and the combative midfielder who kept mute for most of this summer have come to clear the air. Arturo has revealed that he and his agent have a pact that requires his agent not to notify him of interest from another club unless the bid is rock solid. If this report is anything to go by, it means Manchester United never tabled an official bid to Vidal’s Italian employers. Although no official statement came from Old Trafford as to whether or not the Red Devils were planning a move for the Chilean, it was widely reported that the club was strongly interested in a deal for Arturo.  The smoking gun was probably the ridiculous prices that were quoted for the midfielder who was as of then nursing a knee injury.

Vidal has now dashed the hopes of many Old Trafford faithfuls when he said although he is considering a move, this agent would have told him if Manchester United actually came forward with an option. At 27, Arturo Vidal is among the best box-to-box midfielders in the football world and with the class he exuded at the World Cup, he showed that despite nursing an injury, he could still inspire his country in such an excellent manner before Chile were eventually knocked out of the competition. The midfielder who along with former Manchester United player Paul Pogba has forged a formidable partnership at Juventus scored 11 goals last season, apart from his goal getting ability, Manchester United could use his strong physical presence in the middle of the park.

Many pundits have opined that Vidal’s recent revelation is just to mask the true nature of the issue so as not to burn the bridge between him, his fans and his agent. Some even believed that United boss, Louis Van Gaal considered making a massive offer to price Vidal away from the Italian giants this summer but later decided against it after assessing the midfielder’s injury worries and the fact that other options were actually available for much lower prices. However, with Van Gaal’s desperation to add to his rank by January, the United boss could continue to monitor the Chilean with a view to convincing him to make the switch over to Manchester.

The Vidal to Manchester United saga has been on for a while now and with most of the facts still shrouded, we could wait till January and see if Van Gaal recruits Kevin Strootman or any other Midfielder. In fact, once Manchester United does not sign Vidal up by January, then maybe they weren’t as interested as earlier thought.
