Marco Rojo Starts – Manchester United Likely Line Up For Southampton Clash
Manchester United will be hoping to put Tuesday’s shock defeat at the hand of PSV Eindhoven behind them and bounce back with a win against Southampton on Sunday. Manchester United skipper Wayne who missed United’s last two matches due to a slight hamstring injury is expected to make his return to the side. However only time will tell if the England skipper will be drafted back immediately into the starting 11 or he would make an appearance from the bench.
Nevertheless, If Wayne Rooney eventually starts the match against Southampton, the 29 year old is expected to start behind Anthony Martial, with the teenager keeping his starting spot in the side. The decision to play Rooney in the No 10 role should definitely come with favourable reactions as many pundits are of the opinion that Rooney’s days as an out and out striker are over.
The English skipper is yet to score for United in the Premier League this season and has not score in his last 10 Premier League games. The 29 year old is a few goals shy of beating Bobby Charlton’s all-time record for United and will be hoping that his new found role restores back his goal-scoring form.
Manchester United defence will experience the first change of the season due to Luke Shaw’s injury. Marcos Rojo is expected to be drafted into the left-back position as a replacement for Luke Shaw. Other players are still expected to keep their places in team, however Louis Van Gaal might opt for a Schweinsteiger-Schneirderlin pairing instead of a Scweinsteiger-Carrick pairing.
