Mario Mandzukic Close To Manchester United Move

As plans continue to boost the Red Devils’ squad in preparation for the coming season, there are reports that plans are on to bring Atletico Forward, Mario Mandzukic to the Old Trafford. This is confirmed by former Croatia international, Milan Rapaic. The one-time midfielder says of the possible move,

‘It appears to me that he’s very close to Manchester United.”

The misfiring and under-performing duo of Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao are likely to be shown the exit door following their woeful performances last season, and

LVG is keen to bring in a quality forward to lead his attack. Harry Kane is also in the books, and the England international is no doubt a better option than Mandzukic whose time at the Vicente Calderon will soon be forgotten following an unimpressive season after his arrival from Bayern Munich. A new striker is no doubt needful for United following their 4th place finish at the end of the season, but it should be EPL’s 2nd highest goal scorer, Harry Kane and not the Croatian forward.

Kane’s leaving the White Hart lane will however pose a problem, as Tottenham’s Daniel Levy wont be willing to do business with United. But with much pressure heaped on them for his services, a move to the Old Trafford could be underway, as it was with the transfer of Berbatov from Tottenham seasons ago. The fine finisher was finally let go after much persistence from Sir Ferguson saw a forced-move happen.

United will be looking at returning to the Champions League and contesting for the League title next season. The young Harry Kane will definitely be a better option compared to ageing Mario Mandzukic who wouldn’t likely spend more than a year at United if he is signed.
