Massive injury boost – superstar striker confirms he’s back in action

Long forgotten Arsenal’s striker, Danny Welbeck has given an injury boost as he has revealed the possibility of returning in January. The last game Welbeck played for Arsenal was 2014-15 season’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea held in April. He has been out since then due to a knee injury and hasn’t returned to action yet.

However, as reported by Sky Sports, Welbeck can possibly make a return in January at the earliest. “It’s going pretty well,” Welbeck said. “I think with the way it’s going now I’m more positive with things and can’t wait to get back on the pitch.”

“It’s a pretty serious injury and it’s difficult to go through those tough periods but it’s part and parcel of football. I think it has been frustrating, before I had the surgery I was trying to get back fit, but I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

“I’ve said the New Year, January or February, but there’s no exact date yet, I’ve just got to make sure I’m 100 percent when I come back. Obviously I don’t want to come back too soon, and make the injury worse. I can’t look too far ahead, I think the most important thing to me is to get back and show what I can do for Arsenal.”

Welbeck will be hoping to return in the early months of 2016 to attain any chances of getting his name in England’s team for Euro 2016. For that, he needs to return to club action, and perform well. That will only be possible if Wenger doesn’t invest in a new striker this transfer market, otherwise it will become too difficult for Welbeck to find a place in the first team squad.

Currently Giroud and Walcott are already in competition for main striker position. While Wenger has managed to play both these players successfully together, an addition from the transfer market would strengthen the squad but it will make it even more difficult for Welbeck to cement himself as a regular starter. The 25 year old might not be hurrying his return but he will need to work really hard if he aims to be a part of England’s squad for Euro.
