Medical Done, Chelsea’s POWERFUL DM Target Signs, Gets Number 20 Shirt

That Chelsea are in a desperate need of another defensive midfielder is what every Chelsea fan or at least the bulk of all Chelsea fans world over will attest to. With Only Matic the real defensive midfielder at the club and Mikel not looking like he will regain his form of old, many Chelsea fans and pundits alike are hoping Jose Mourinho will go out there and bring in a reliable defensive midfielder.

However, one defensive midfielder the blues will not be signing this summer is Chile Copa America winner Charles Aránguiz who was just weeks ago linked with a move to the Stamford bridge. The high rated Chilean was said to be on the way to Chelsea after Chelsea reportedly beat Arsenal to his supposed signing. However, that seems not to be the case or maybe the blues and the gunners pulled out due to whatever reason. This is because Charles Aránguiz has now signed for German giants Bayer Leverkusen.

Personally, I was hoping Jose Mourinho will capture the player since he was available for cheap, a 15 million price was quoted and seems good enough to not only act as back up to Matic but as well as compete with the big Serbian defensive midfielder. Bayer Leverkusen have already announced the deal so there won’t be a late hijacking of the deal. He has even been given the number 20 shirt by the Germans.

I however hope Jose Mourinho knows what he is doing. It will be criminal to finish the transfer window without having brought in another defensive midfielder. Relying on John Obi Mikel when Matic gets injured or is suspended or out of will be akin to hoping Diego Costa won’t spend time on the injury table – almost impossible if you ask me.
