Aston Villa are set to complete the signing of Liverpool target Adama Traore from Barcelona by tomorrow, according to the Daily Express.
The 19-year-old former Spain Under 19 International, who made just one start and three substitute appearances for Barcelona, is reported to have passed his medical ahead of completing his transfer.
Traore struggled to nail down a starting berth at Barcelona, and at his age one would have expect him to make an impact already. However, but he has strong competition in Suarez, Neymar, Messi and Pedro. So he has found things tough at Barcelona.
Spanish newspaper AS has reported that he will sign a three year deal with the option of a fourth.
Liverpool had been strongly linked with a move for the powerful forward and rumors suggested that the deal was so close that the Reds were set to complete a medical with Traore.
However, he now appears on the brink of joining up with Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa for a fee of 7million pounds, as reported by the Express, who also claimed the deal will be completed today.
Spanish football expert Graham Hunter says Aston Villa fans will be ecstatic with the deal.
He said: “If Villa pulls the deal off the Villa fans will be ecstatic with the board and Tim Sherwood. He is a player who can be something of a remedy over the duration of his contract should he sign a three-year deal, because not only have Villa fans struggled with relegation but they haven’t had enough excitement or the brand of football they want.
“Adama represents that in 24-carat ways. He is a beautiful talent and it is very exciting if he goes to Villa park.”
Traore is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy and turned out 63 times for the club’s B team in the Spanish second league and scored eight goals.
