That Manchester United could do with another attacker is an understatement. With only Rooney the only quality striker the club has, it was believed that Louis Van Gaal will bring in another striker or at least a wing forward who can also play false nine. One of the many wing forwards that were linked is Bayern Munich’s Switzerland international attacker Xherdan Shaqiri

Xherdan Shaqiri who was also linked to Arsenal and Liverpool is however not going to play for the red devils has he has signed for Stoke City. The petite striker has passed his medical and has put pen to paper on a four years deal with Stoke. He was given the number 22 shirt and within 24 hours, his number 22 print shirt has broken Stoke City’s record in terms of number of shirt shows.

This was achieved without he actually kicking a ball which further goes to show his popularity in the football world. Although he may not have broken the same record with Manchester United, but his signing would have given Louis Van Gaal another option in attack when Rooney is out of form or injured or suspended.

However, should Pedro or Lavezzi both of who I think are better than Shaqiri, most United fans will be happy but going into the season without bringing in another striker or at least a wing forward will be suicidal.
