Medical Done, UCL Winning Arsenal Target Completes Medical, Announcement Imminent
According reports making rounds in the Italian media, Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri is on the verge of completing a move to Stoke City. Despite the fact that he has passed the medicals, Bayern are still holding on to the player due to loopholes in the agreement that is supposed to see them benefit from his sale.
The past three seasons have seen Arsenal lure players like Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and only recently, the veteran goal keeper Petr cech from London rivals Chelsea. This is largely a departure from the norm when Wenger buys players below a certain amount and expect them to help them win the Title.
The emergence of the players mentioned above has been lauded and applauded by pundits and fans alike. And since then, Arsenal have won the FA cup and Community shield consecutively and the newly Acquired Alexis Sanchez being the player of the season for the Gunners with his 25 goals.
The 23-year-old Swiss international moved from Bayern Munich to Inter Milan this year and has failed to impress. He’s played from the bench on most occasions and struggled to live up expectation.
Arsenal are expected to continue in the stead of buying world class players and not buys that will make little or no impact. The EPL title has eluded the Gunners for about a decade, they can only compete if they continue signing players who have held their own on a consistent basis for club and country and Shaqiri does not fit in this category.
