More POSITIVE Injury News For Manchester Utd As More Players Return To Training

With their hard fought victory over Everton last weekend, Manchester United will be looking forward to better days ahead as Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Jonny Evans and Jesse Lingard will be returning to light training this week.

Jesse had sustained an injury to his leg in the 24th minute in Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Swansea while Jonny Evans limped off at the King Power stadium where the red devil suffered an agonizing 5-1 defeat.

After a sluggish start to the season, the Red Devils for the first time since the Sir Alex days moved into fourth position after beating the Toffees 2-1 at Old Trafford last Sunday. The home side looked quite strong but remained light on the bench with striker James Wilson and midfielder Marouane Fellaini  coming on after only returning from injury this week.

Van Gaal most especially will be relishing the opportunity to really make more flexible formations now that most of his players are returning to duty, it will be recalled that ever since the commencement of this season, the Dutchman has had to manage the rickety squad that was remaining after his first choice defenders Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans all got injured at the same time. The Old Trafford boss is relieved to be heading into the International break on a victorious note and will also be hoping to have all his players back apart from team captain Wayne Rooney who still has a 2 game ban after he picked a straight red card against Wet Ham.

While giving an update on his team after the victory over the Toffees, the Manchester United manager revealed that:

“It was very disappointing to see Anders Herrera suffering a fractured rib which has added to our injury list at a time when I thought we were seeing a very dim light at the end of the tunnel in terms of injuries”

Anders Herrera, who switched over from Atletico Bilbao this summer, had quickly settled into the first team while forging a working triangle with fellow summer arrivals Angel Di Maria and Daley Blind. The Spaniard’s creative ability is part of what the Red devils have lacked since the retirement of Paul Scholes and has seen him strike twice in four games for Van Gaal’s side. However with the recovery of the reliable Michael Carrick, Manchester United can still avoid midfield porosity. Also with Vice-captain Darren Fletcher still battling with match fitness since recovering from the stomach bug he suffered 2 years ago, Van Gaal will have the option of playing any three from the host of Michael Carrick, Daley Blind, Angel Di Maria and Maroaune Fellani. Also when Rooney returns from his ban, Van Gaal can still decide to hand him a deeper role to help out in the midfield.

It will be until Monday evening before Manchester United files out again, this time against West Bromwich Albion giving the Red Devils more time to prepare. Manchester United holds the record of having used the most players so far this season, a total of 30 and the manager is set to have more options available to him.
