“New Ronaldinho” Arsenal On The VERGE Of Skillful Midfielder Signing

You will find it impossible to find another manager as committed to the development of youth as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. Throughout his storied career, the wily Frenchman has been a staunch advocate of the importance of youth in a successful team.

He has been unfairly accused several times of placing too much emphasis on signing young , talented and potentially world class players instead of the finished products. But that is the way Monsieur Wenger sees football- a blend of the wisdom of the experienced and the exuberance of the young. Throughout the years, Wenger has garnered a reputation for developing youngsters with potential into world class performers.

It seems that the next one in the line to benefit from Wenger’s tutelage is 17-year-old Brazilian youngster Renan Martinz Pereira, who , according to reports in the Metro , is all set to join the Gunners from Brazilian club Avai.

An all-action midfielder , similar to the Steven Gerrard of yesteryears , Renan has impressed with his commanding displays in the Avai midfield so far this season, playing in 12 of the 13 league games for the Brazilian outfit this season and scoring a solitary goal. Despite the club stuck at the wrong end of the table, with just 4 wins in 13 , the youngster has garnered rave reviews for his performances and is  highly regarded in Brazil for his ability to dictate play and control the game. Reports in the Metro claim that the local Brazilian media has gone as far as to saying recently that he is close to becoming a “complete player”.

With 441 successful passes in the league, Renan tops the charts for Avai and is currently the club’s best performer in terms of performance score. At the tender age of 17, the youngster has already cemented his place in the Avai first team and his commanding performances have now attracted the attention of Arsenal scouts. Wenger has now reportedly become involved in the discussions, and has been impressed by the 17-year-old’s dominant displays.

The report also states that Arsenal will only have to pay a small compensation as a fee for the player owing to his youthful age. At just 17, the youngster is definitely one for the future, and will be looking to get a run out in the cup fixtures. However, looking at all the positive reviews the player has garnered , Arsenal may just have unearthed a gem.
