New Twist In Griezmann Chase – Chelsea Given BOOST In Chase For £35m Star

According to details from Sky Sports, Christian Benteke  has refused to pen a new deal at Aston Villa thus guarantying Chelsea the clearance to complete the transfer. The news that the striker will not accept a new deal at Villa Park will surely be welcomed at Stamford Bridge. Should Chelsea actually mean for Benteke, it could mean the end has come to the Griezmann chase.

The premiere league champions now appear favourites to sign another Belgium international teammate after Eden Hazard. The Belgian has called on Chelsea officials to make a move for Christian Benteke this summer, saying: ‘If he signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world. If Christian signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world,’
‘I have a great relationship with him and would like nothing better than to play with him. Christian is 25. He is at an age where he has to make a good career choice.

“Not that Aston Villa is a small club, but he has already played many great games and can now play in the Champions League.’

Jose Mourinho is reportedly monitoring Benteke, 24, ahead of a possible summer bid, in an attempt to strengthen his side’s attacking options ahead of next season with the departure of Didier and Loic Remy.

The Premier League champions, according to Goal.com, are among those willing to take on the Aston Villa strong hit-man, who has a £35million release cause in his contract. Liverpool are believed to be unwilling to meet his £35m release clause despite the need for proven forward in the Anfield giants.
