Overview of 6th Round and predictions for the 7th in the Brazilian Championship

This weekend we had the 6th round of the Brazilian Championship. Of the 10 matches, we hit 5 of our predictions (so-so, ok…) Below a summary of the main matches of the round:

Palmeiras 3-1 Fluminense

The match began at an intense pace with chances for both sides. Palmeiras went ahead with a goal which was characterised as “Cucabol”, because of the style of play from the Brazilian champions of last year, and the name of their coach, Cuca. In the first half, Fluminense drew level though the Brazilian championship’s top scorer, Henrique Dourado, who has already scored 7 goals. Palmeiras went on to secure victory in the second half through goals by Keno and Roger Guedes.

Corinthians 3-2 São Paulo

In the Paulista’s derby, championship leaders got the result they wanted. Corinthians played better than the Paulo squad most of the time, taking advantage of their opportunities and the confusion of the Paulo squad, to open the scoring. It was only at the end of the match that Sao Paulo put the pressure on after scoring their second goal, but it was too little too late.

Gremio 1-0 Bahia

In a chess match, Gremio didn’t play as beautifully as they had in the last few games but still managed to get a win. The team had to be reshuffled a lot and coach Renato Portaluppi made a tactical change with the entry of captain, Maicon. The team controlled the game and managed to see out win.
