Personal Terms Agreed, £75,000-A-Week Arsenal Target Agrees Terms With Club

After giving them our goalkeeper on a season-long loan for the upcoming campaign, AS Roma appear to have robbed us of a key target as Sky Sports understand Edin Dzeko has agreed personal terms ahead of a move to the Serie A side. The reports goes ahead to say the two clubs have not settled on a fee for the erstwhile Wolfsburg forward – who was limited to only 11 starts in the Premier League last term.

The 29-year old managed only four league goals for the Manuel Pellegrini side last campaign as the club lost out on the race for the title to Arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea.

Dzeko has been surprisingly linked to us this summer after reports had claimed the Bosnian would be willing to remain in the Premier League should he leave City. Now this is apparently not the case as the striker is reportedly close to a move to the Stadio Olimpico.

Wilfried Bony’s arrival to the Etihad in January sparked rumours that Dzeko may be set to leave the club this summer and with City coughing up a fee as mammoth as £49m to sign Raheem Sterling from Liverpool recently, that has added fuel to the speculation of an exit for the Bosnia-Herzegovina international striker.

Dzeko would have been a huge coup for us considering we are in need of a proven goalscorer. The forward has the experience of how the league operates and will need no time adapting since it would just be a “been-there done-that” situation for him unlike Karim Benzema who Arsene Wenger is mostly keen to sign and Robert Lewandowski who we have put on standby should the Los Blancos striker fail to join us.

Nevertheless, Wenger’s decision to not sign Dzeko may be that either Benzema or Lewandowski is now on the cards. The duo pose a better goal scoring record than the Man City striker and the French tactician might have considered this before dropping his interest in Dzeko.

It is however hoped that Wenger does the needful in time before the season opener as we look to win the EPL title in the upcoming campaign. As we tackle Chelsea in the FA Community Shield, it is believed a deal will be close to being finalised for either Benzema or Lewandowski.
