Mathieu Debuchy is currently weighing his options whether to take a loan move to Aston Villa or Bayer Leverkusen. Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy is reportedly considering his future at Arsenal amid being linked with a loan move to either Bayern Leverkusen or Aston Villa.
According to our sources, The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to either Aston Villa or Bayern Leverkusen. And banked on his interest and Arsenal’s interests which seem to contrast, the 30-year-old has been left to decide whether he will join Aston Villa or Leverkusen.
Debuchy is currently looking for enough playtime and a chance to play in the Champions League.
The French international signed for Arsenal from Newcastle United in July 2014 for £10.5 but his career at the north London club has been greatly affected by several injuries. Regardless of his return to full fitness at the start of 2015/16, Debuchy has found it hard to get enough play time after falling behind Hector Bellerin in the pecking order.
He has started just two Premier League this season and is desperate for first-team football in a bid to secure a spot in France’s squad for Euro 2016.
Meanwhile, reports have it that Aston Villa are reportedly made a new bid to secure the services the former-Newcastle defender after finally agreeing to a £1.25 million loan deal until the end of the season.
It is reported that Arsenal would most prefer to keep French international as cover but Wenger’s relationship with Villa boss Remi Garde has played a key role in Debuchy’s proposed move to the Midlands.
Remi Garde was Wenger’s first signing after becoming the Gunners manager in September 1996. Garde is willing to accept the clause of it is the price of securing the experienced right-back and has assured him a starting spot at Villa Park.
Debuchy was initially almost sealing a move to Roma but then-manager Rudi Garcia was dismissed almost a fortnight ago and the Italian club has since revised their transfer plans.
It is believed that Garcia and Debuchy had a great working relationship at Lille but the player is now left to decide whether he will go to Villa or Leverkusen.
