Personal Terms Agreed, Chelsea To COMPLETE £18m Signing This Week

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Augsburg full-back Baba Rahman after having an £18 million pounds bid accepted by the Bundesliga club, according to SportBild. The club has been in the market for a new full back after the sale of Felipe Luis back to Atletico left them with Cesar Azpilicueta as the only left-back, and Chelsea are now understood to be closing in on signing the Ghanaian defender.

Chelsea has made the full back one of their top targets all summer having tracked him for some time. Augsburg rejected an initial offer of £20 million pounds for the player who they signed for £1 million pounds, but reports in Germany Media says they have now agreed to a bid of £25 million euros, which also includes significant bonuses.

According to the Gianluca Di Marzio, Rahman has agreed a five year deal with the Premier league champions with a £1.5million pounds a season salary.

The 21-year-old impressed in the Bundesliga last season and Jose Mourinho feels he can challenge Azpilicueta for a place in the first Eleven with the Blues.

Augsburg are resigned to losing the defender following his rise to prominence and Chelsea are determined to sign the player, they see him as someone with great potentials.

Mourinho confirmed in his press conference ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal that he was hoping to bring in a new left-back. When asked about the arrival of a new defender, he said: “I don’t know. But we try. We don’t have, we have only one. We are trying.”

The youngster provided four assists in the league last season, which was the joint-second highest total for a defender in the division.
