Arsenal fans look as though they have had their hopes raised and spirits lifted, as renowned Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli claims he has knowledge of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema’s transfer to Arsenal, saying the Frenchman has signed a four-year deal at the north London club, as per Metro. Class!
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admired Benzema, 27, for a very long time with the former Lyon hitman spearheading Los Blancos attacks since joining in 2009 and scoring 133 goals in the process.
The Gunners’ desperation to land a top-notch centre forward this summer has led them to submit two bids already for Benzema but Real have so far rejected the advances.
Now, it appears Arsenal have got their long term target and the Los Blancos forward will be playing under his compatriot in the English Premier League come next season. That is if words from Giulianelli are true.
The Italian reporter’s claim seem a tad different from Spanish reporter Graham Hunter’s view that Arsenal can sign Benzema if the French striker asks Real for a move to the Emirates.
The Gunners have highlighted that they will be willing to fork out the fee if any of their targets becomes available and with this news that Benzema to Arsenal is done, the Community Shield winners could have paid as much as £40-£45m to secure his signature and the player will earn €9m a year, as per the Italian media man.
