In Everton’s Premier League match against Tottenham today, Stones may have had his final appearance for the Merseyside club as reports making the rounds in England are suggesting that a move is still possible for the Chelsea’s target.
Earlier in the week, the Chairman of Everton, Bill wright, dismissed the possibility of Stones departure despite Chelsea’s mouth-watering offers for the 21-year-old.
However, with the close of the window imminent, BBC Sport journalist has hinted that Chelsea are yet to give up on the deal and it is still a possibility.
“Admire @Everton resolve to keep JS; I had heard from player’s side it WOULD happen. But where does it leave all concerned on weds morn?”
Meanwhile, the Premier League holders were beaten for the second time this season in the Premier League match against Crystal palace this evening – they have so far conceded nine goals in four matches and are eight points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.
Stones had a stellar performance for Everton this evening. Should Chelsea not give up on the player’s signature, it can still happen as clubs are known to hold on to players until transfer deadline day.
