With the appointment of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United looking more and more certain at the end of this inconsistent season, sources inside the club are contemplating who he will bring in to turn the clubs fortunes around.
It is extremely likely that Jose will be given a treasure-chest full of cash to sign the players he wants and he does have a history of big money signings. But who will he wants to bring in at Old Trafford?
Some sources have suggested that he wants as many as 5 big names. Amongst the names mentioned are Harry Kane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, John Stones and Renato Sanches; all of whom Mourinho is known to be an admirer of.
Ibrahimovic would not cost a penny in transfer fees but his wage would be on par or exceed the current highest paid player, Wayne Rooney. The others would cost big money and it is unsure whether even Manchester United’s financial clout could afford this.
Other names have been thrown around with Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez a possible target haven fallen down the Real pecking list. Popular pundit Guillem Balague believes that Rodriguez leaving Madrid this season is a foregone conclusion.
Another player mentioned is Roma defender and Chelsea target Kostas Manolas. The Greece international has impressed in Serie A and is being watched by many across Europe.
Talks are already underway between United and Manolas’ agents; United could certainly do with a dependable central defender.
