Spanish side Atletico Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of Chelsea left back Luis Felipe who left Atletico to join Chelsea last summer in a deal said to be worth €25 million. The high rated Brazilian has rejoined the Spanish side for a fee believed to be in the region of €16 million eurors.
Chelsea seems to have let the Brazilian join Atletic for cheap without a fight. Could it be because the blues are using the deal to pave way for themselves to sign Antoine Griezmann who has been linked with a move to Chelsea ever since the current summer transfer window opened?
Luis found regular first team chance hard to come backw ith the blues and a return back to Spain seems ideal for him but definitely not for Chelsea if you consider the amount of money he is being sold for. However, all that could change if Chelsea are using that deal as a sweetener in their bid to get Griezmann.
With only Falcao, Diego Costa and Remy the only strikers Chelsea have and considering how injury prone all three are, signing someone like Griezmann will make perfect sense. Although he is not an out and out striker, he showed last season he can play upfront alone or alongside someone else.
Signing Griezmann will make a lot of bunsiness and football sense for Chelsea. Although he is never going to come cheap, his signing will sell a lot of shirts and he will allow quality to Jose Mourinho’s side.
