Rodgers Ready To Sign UCL Winner, But Simon Mignolet Could Leave In January

As Liverpool continue to be under pressure following a poor start into the new season, Brendan Rodgers isn’t the only one having his position under threat, as 1st choice goalstopper, Simon Mignolet has come under scrutiny of recent following many high profile errors in recent performances. The Belgian international has already lost his place to Chelsea’s Thibaut  Courtois at the international level, and could also get sidelined at Anfield as the club’s transfer committee have reportedly kicked off search for possible replacements.

Reds’ 2nd choice goalie, Adam Bogdan was the hero during the Cup’s match against Carlisle last Wednesday saving 3 penalties to keep Liverpool in the competition. But the Hungarian isn’t seen as a better option than Mignolet. The Belgian joined from Sunderland in 2013, starting his Liverpool career on a very promising note and regarded as one of the finest goalies in the EPL at the time, but a series of culpable performances have made him seen his starting berth questioned, and he has until January to prove himself. Though a search still continues for a replacement, as the Reds continue to search for a longterm home League glory and a return to the Champions League.

Liverpool have had to pick up just a win in the whole of September, been the 3-2 thrashing of Aston Villa during the weekend, and Rodgers has been under pressure with his spot coming under severe threat. Rodgers made a few addition to his squad during the Summer transfer window, but the goalkeeping department has now come under questioning following Simon’s performances.

According to reports, Rodgers plan to sign Manchester United’s Valdes as replacement for the Belgian.
