Roman Abramovich Sanctions €48m January Signing For Chelsea

The Blues aren’t giving the hope of bolstering their defense line when the transfer window re-opens in January next year as reports in the Spanish press are suggesting that Chelsea are ready to step up their interest Valencia’s defending Jose Gaya.

The report is according to Spanish newspaper Sport which claims the billionaire owner Roman Abrahamovic has given the deal makers of the his club the go-ahead to make the bid for the player following their disastrous start to this campaign.

For over 20 years, this is Chelsea’s worst start – they have suffered three defeats in five matches, conceding 11 goals, and currently lye 11 points adrift League leaders Manchester city. The possibility of Chelsea retaining the title has been ruled out by pundits and fans.

Having being the club with the most conceded goals in the Premier League thus far, Mourinho has obviously made the strengthening of his defense line his major priority upon the open of the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Gaya, 20, is among the brightest prospects in Europe at the moment. The Spaniard is a regular for his club, he featured in 35 matches for Valencia last season and helped them qualified for the lucrative champions league.

It is believed that Chelsea are willing to offer 48 million Euros for the highly rated defender.
