Roman Abramovich Sanctions €55m Signing For Chelsea, Striker On The Way

Chelsea may have complete the deal for Pedro Rodriguez, but Jose Mourinho is not done yet. There has been a rumour of a £100m double swoop for Juventus power house Paul Pogba and Everton young defender John Stones. Now, another player has surprisingly emerged as a target for the Blues.

Spanish media outlet AS is claiming the Blues want to bolster their attack further and have made a €55m offer to sign Anthony Martial from Monaco.

Jose Mourinho and his charges got humiliated by Manchester City last week and have only picked a point from their first two matches of the Premier League season. Hence, the Portuguese backed by club owner Roman Abrahamovich has sprung into action by hijacking Pedro from under Manchester United noses, and Stones’ is also close to being a Blue – with a report from the Sun claiming the Toffees’ defender is on the verge of handing in a transfer request at Everton, while Pogba could also be moving to Stamford Bridge this season.

However, Mourinho is also keen on Martial who emerged as Monaco’s top scorer last season, netting nine goals in Ligue 1 and also impressing in the Champions League by helping the French outfit overcome Arsenal in the round of 16 to reach the quarter-finals. The former Lyon ace definitely has a big future in the game.

The aforementioned source further revealed that Chelsea’s chances of landing Martial, 19, will depend on whether Monaco qualify for the group stages of this season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, the prospect of landing the France Under-21 star look good, with the Ligue 1 outfit losing 3-1 against Valencia at the Mestalla on Thursday evening.

The Blues would be hoping to win all three points as they face West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Sunday, with reports suggesting Mourinho could axe Branislav Ivanovic to bring in Baba Rahman for his first start for the Blues, while Pedro could also get the nod.
