Roman Abramovich To Sanction Deal For Pogba? The Latest Development

Chelsea’s attempt to bring in a new central midfielder could be thwarted, with Barcelona confirming they are interested in the Blues’ target Paul Pogba.

As per the Express, Barcelona are prepared to hijack Chelsea’s move for Pogba after admitting they want to lure the Juventus powerhouse to the Nou Camp.

Pogba, 22, is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in the world and has become a hot property with a number of admirable performances for the Old Lady since joining them in 2012.

The France international was let go by Sir Alex Ferguson during the Scottish’s spell as manager of Manchester United after Pogba failed to really make any impact and not agreeing a new contract at Old Trafford.

Pogba is now tracked by several European heavyweights including Chelsea – who tried till the last day of the summer to sign him, Manchester City, as well as his former side United. However, Barca are preparing to launch a bid to sign the midfielder when the transfer window re-opens in January – the same month they will be free from the shackles of a transfer ban.

“The amount he’d cost has to be considered,” Barcelona technical director Fernandez said.

“But you can find a solution for that. We have the freedom to work [after a transfer ban] and when the time comes we’ll sit down and decide.”

Pogba has, since his move to Juventus, won three consecutive Scudettos, been to the Champions League final [last season] and won Young Player of the tournament at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

After the departure of Carlos Tevez to Boca Juniors in the summer, Pogba took the legendary No. 10 shirt, but he has been unable to prevent the Serie A champions from struggling this term as they currently languish in 12th place on the league table, 10 points behind leaders Fiorentina.

The Frenchman could decide to move on in the New Year if things do not change. Juventus face Inter Milan after the international break in the Derby d’Italia, and Pogba will be aiming to help his side secure three maximum points.
