Rooney-Depay-Martial – Manchester United Likely Line Up For Wolfsburg

It is only right to say Manchester United are in brilliant form right now as they now sit top of the Premier League table. The Red Devils will now be looking to return to winning ways in the Champions League after falling to a defeat against PSV Eindhoven in the opening game of their Champions League campaign two weeks ago.

Some days after Louis van Gaal’s side walloped Sunderland in the league, Bundesliga side Wolfsburg will also be visiting Old Trafford for the second group stage game of this season’s Champions League.

Three points is surely the maximum United will be aiming for as they presently have none, and this is why van Gaal will be fielding his best side despite the fact that the Red Devils still have to travel to the Emirates stadium to face Arsenal next Sunday in the league. Such fixtures will surely test the depth and strength and the title credibility of the United team.

The presence of Bastian Schweinsteiger in the United midfield will certainly ensure more calmness and vision – with Morgan Schneiderlin providing the much needed shield for the defence against Wolfsburg. Also, playing Anthony Martial once again in the striker role will also guarantee pace up front for the team, with Wayne Rooney starting right behind the French teenager just like we saw against Sunderland during the weekend.

Juan Mata and Memphis Depay should also retain their places on either flanks, while Matteo Darmian continues his makeshift role as a left-back meaning Antonio Valencia plays from the right back position once again. The centre-back pairing of Chris Smalling and Daley Blind should be maintained despite the return to full fitness of Phil Jones.

Here is how United are expected to line up: De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Darmian; Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin; Mata, Rooney, Depay; Martial.
