Ryan Giggs will quit Manchester United if Jose Mourinho is appointed
In the biggest managerial crisis in Premier League history, Manchester United seem to be caught in a Game of Thrones-style power struggle between Ed Woodward, LVG and Jose Mourinho. One man who might have a huge impact on the situation in Ryan Giggs as he reportedly told pals that he would quit if the Portuguese manager takes over.
It is thought that Ed Woodward and Jose Mourinho have agreed on Jose taking control of the club at the end of the year, replacing Louis Van Gaal.
The board reportedly have mixed opinions about the idea because Jose will want to bring his own staff into the club, including his assistant manager. Ryan Giggs would certainly find himself falling down the pecking order if Jose takes over.
Ryan Giggs reckons that he has the backing of the players and fans to do the job of manager himself, however he doesn’t have the experience of Jose Mourinho or Louis Van Gaal. Some of the board want Ryan Giggs to take over eventually, but once he gains a bit of experience in managing top flight teams.
Giggs wouldn’t find himself without offers as clubs such as Celtic have already made inquiries, but it will be difficult for him to break his 22 year connection to the club. One thing is certain; this crisis is far from over
