Sami Khedira Could Finally Join Arsenal But Another Star May Leave

Reports surrounding Germany international, Mesut Ozil is worrisome to Arsenal fans after being linked with Bayern Munich.

Arsene Wenger who signed the creative midfielder from Real Madrid last year, for a record breaking transfer has also been reported to re-open the chase for Madrid midfielder, Sami Khedira, after having failed to sign him during the summer due to high wages’ demand.

Khedira has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, following a successful World Cup campaign, and with the presence of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, Khedira may seek to leave the Bernabeu this time – just like Angel Di Maria who moved to United.

Reports claimed that Arsenal were open to letting him (Ozil) go, with Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira lined up as a potential replacement.

Ozil who is currently injured took to twitter to rubbish the move to Bayern, thanking everyone for the wishes as he recovers from a knee injury he suffered against Chelsea.

“Thanks for your support following my injury. I’ll come back on the pitch soon as I can to help #AFC. Now and in the future #MiaSanArsenal” Ozil twitted.

Despite being the subject and peak of Arsenal’s criticism this season, the 25-year-old playmaker has been judged harshly over his performances, but Gunners’ manager, Arsene Wenger, has backed his midfielder, insisting that Ozil makes a difference every time he is on the pitch.

In spite of the several criticisms, Ozil is one of the very few players who can effectively play the no 10 role. He might be having difficulties in adapting and settling into the Premier League fast paced kind of football, as opposed to the passes, flicks and dribbles of the Spanish la Liga but he still remains one of the potent midfielders in the game and his incredibly gentle style of play suit the Gunners well.

Bayern Munich star studded side may look enticing but seeing the obvious competition for first team football may be a major turn off for the Germany international that Ancelotti once described as being unable to handle competition. A bloated Bayern Munich midfield will leave Ozil with a second thought on whether to join the Bavarians.

Arsene Wenger should not just see Khedira as a potential replacement but a priority to strengthen Arsenal’s midfield. Khedira, just like Ozil and Di Maria, has most certainly lost his place in the Madrid berth and a move away should be a primary option for him.

While Ozil’s move away from the Emirates is still regarded as a speculation, his influence and importance on the team cannot be measured, irrespective of where he finds himself.

Still blighted by a knee injury, Ozil is yet to hit the heights at Arsenal and with a big bid supposedly unfolding in the wake of January transfer from Bayern Munich, Arsenal must not be enticed to part with their playmaker while they also seek to sign Sami Khedira in other to strengthen their midfield in January.

Ozil has rubbished the rumours linking him to Bayern Munich and also mentioned that he wishes to stay and help Arsenal succeed but with the gradual process of events, Arsenal must motivate the German while they sign his fellow countryman from former club.
