SHOCK DEAL Of The Summer? Chelsea To Complete £35.8m Deal In Days

Chelsea have, according to reports, have agreed a deal with Real Madrid to sign highly-rated French defender, Rafael Varane this summer.

Despite the Spanish club’s insistence that the young defender is not for sale early in the summer, it is believed that a £35.8 million bid from Chelsea has made them acquiesce.

Varane who enjoyed plenty of playing time under Jose Mourinho when he was in charge at Real Madrid, has now been said to be on his way to Stamford Bridge to join his former manager.

According to Golazo, terms have been agreed over the transfer and the move should be completed in the coming days.

Varane did not get enough playing time under Jose’s successor, Carlo Ancelotti, and is still thought to continue with his bench role under new Madrid coach, Rafael Benitez.

Therefore, Mourinho – who described the 22-year old as one of the best defenders in the game – is offering him an escape route. With Blues’ captain ageing and the Chelsea defence unusually porous at times, the Portuguese manager sees Varane as a replacement for the Englishman.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also thought to be keen on the France international, but Chelsea have been dubbed favourites the clinch his signature.

United are, however, still locked in negotiations with Madrid over Varane’s team mate, Sergio Ramos exit. As it is known that what Jose wants Jose usually gets, Varane’s addition to the Chelsea back four would only strengthen and make formidable the English champions’ defence.

Raphael Varane’s international team mates, Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba are also on the wanted list of Chelsea, as the Blues look to bring in more recruits in order to consolidate on their League triumph.

Meanwhile, Chelsea players are expected to return to Cobham today as the club’s pre-season training officially kicks off. New signings Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic are also expected to join the team.
